How and why

How do we start?

• We'll begin with an initial meeting/consultation - parent, child and myself - to discuss your requirements.
• The child has as much input as the parent - it's their lesson and they'll be the ones doing the work!
• This session is free of charge. If agreement is reached on how to proceed, then lessons are booked.

Why Cooper's Tuition?

• Quality & experience: a long established and experienced examiner providing a tailored approach.
• Personal service: working directly with parents ensures you get what you want, rather than being dictated to by a faceless agency.
• Security: I am police checked and references are provided; lessons take place in a tailor-made environment with the opportunity for you to peek in and ensure your children are safe and happy.
• Support: parents need support as much as children. The personal nature of the business means I'm always on hand to discuss, encourage and cry on. I understand just how difficult those teenagers can be - even when they're only eight years old!
  

My philosophy

• I want to inspire, to motivate, to develop in children the confidence to have a go and ultimately the confidence to be able to work independently. I want this confidence to be something that carries on through the rest of their education, and also to impact on their entire lives.
• I believe that successful confident children are happy children.
• I want my students to have the confidence to ask questions and not be scared to ask for help; to feel excited about learning and always want to know more.
• I want to develop skills for independence.
• I use a culture of praise, which boosts self esteem and inspires the student to try harder and go further. There is no condemnation for failure - as long as they try their hardest it doesn't matter if they get things wrong.
• I want to help people, regardless of ability, age or background, to realise their goals for the future.
• I believe that all children benefit from private tuition. It gives the one-to-one attention that busy teachers would love to give, but never have time for. It's an addition to what children do in school, not a substitution. Private tuition helps a child to grow and get better exam results, which in turn reflect well on the school - so everyone wins. I love to work with schools, and find them supportive and co-operative.

	Dot's excellent knowledge of the school curriculum is reflected in her lessons. She reinforces what is being covered at school and introduces new topics and ideas to keep children interested.
